Biography

David M. Douglass was graduated cum laude from the University of Cincinnati in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. He received his J.D. in 1979 from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law, where he earned the Judge Lee E. Skeel Award for Property. He has completed graduate level MBA courses at Case Western Reserve University and completed COSE’s Strategic Planning course. He was admitted to the Ohio State Bar in 1979, and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Douglass founded Douglass & Associates Co., L.P.A. in 1983 after three years as an associate with Richard L. Boylan Co., L.P.A. He was selected as a “Leading Lawyer” in the area of collections by “Inside Business” in 2002 through 2011. He has lectured on creditor’s rights and collection practices both locally and nationally. He has served as a Court Appointed Receiver in several complex, multi-million dollar proceedings and as a Court Appointed Master Commissioner in United States District Court. He is active in Cleveland community affairs and previously served on the Board of The West Side Community House, as Trustee for the Buckeye Area Development Corporation, Cudell Improvement, Inc., Cleveland District of Superintendency Committee of the United Methodist Church, and West Boulevard Neighborhood Association, where he also served as President.  Mr. Douglass is also a member of the American Bar Association, Ohio Bar Association, Cleveland Bar Association, and Ohio Creditors Attorneys Association, and has served as President and Secretary of Hubnet, which is a large users group specializing in collections.

Mr. Douglass served as the Legal and Moral Claims Supervisor for the City of Cleveland Law Department prior to entering private practice.
